The US Founders had a Liberal Arts education. I believe a Liberal Arts education is important to preserving the ideals of the American Experiment in self-rule.
I believe that a person with an authentic liberal arts education will have a deeper appreciation of the importance of liberty than people with technical training.
Unfortunately, I fear the term "liberal arts" has been captured.
In common discourse, "liberal" has come to mean a partisan group that leans left to far left.
With this captured meaning of the term "liberal," schools have been developing "liberal arts" as a unbalanced partisan education which is the opposite of classical liberal arts.
You're right about how the left took over the word "liberal" during the same time they took over the faculties and ideologies of the lion's share of our schools.
Fortunately, it's used correctly in the rest of the world to mean free-market, free society liberalism. I hope we can take it back here.
